The Medical Centre
Welcome to the Medical Centre from all the staff. Our Practice 'mission statement' is as follows.
'Committed to providing the best possible care by our friendly and innovative team.'
At the Medical Centre on the Green in West Drayton the doctors and nurses take pride in offering the highest standard of patient-centred healthcare. We run a number of clinics for chronic disease care and offer a wide variety of other medical services such as antenatal and postnatal care, minor surgery, childhood vaccinations and well-person check-ups.
In addition to everything you need to know about the practice, you will also find a wealth of health-related information in the menus above and on the right hand side. Please have a look around the site and please send us some feedback and ideas for the surgery.
Many thanks to all the patients and staff who helped raise awareness for breast cancer on Friday 21st October. By 'Wearing It Pink,' we raised over £150.00 (we are still accepting donations) for such a worthwhile cause. We also held competitions with prizes and certainly 'pinked up' the surgery with an impressive collection of balloons, posters, banners and even some 'fabulously' understated headgear.
Special thanks go to Jenny, who organised the day with such flair and Lesley's neighbour who baked the tastiest pink cupcakes in town!
Please see below some of the 'Pink Ladies' who helped raise awareness for breast cancer and contributed to such a fun, worthwhile day.

We would like to say a big thank you to Alan Storer from Dementia Friends.
Recently, Alan visited the surgery and gave an extremely insightful and very interesting presentation about people living with Dementia.
Our staff got to understand Dementia a little more and learnt how to turn that knowledge into action. After the talk, Alan agreed to work closely with the Medical Centre in the future.
The 'future' turned out to be only a couple of days as again, Alan kindly agreed to return to the surgery and help us set up an information kiosk for the Mayday fair on the Green.
The weather was perfect and Alan gave up his entire day to meet and greet locals who were attending the event. The Medical Centre provided parking, refreshments, bathroom facilities and a doggy water station.
The Medical Centre also provided literature and posters about the charities and information about our new Yellow Fever and Travel Vaccination Centre.
In return for opening the surgery to the 'Maydayers,' we asked for a small donation to support our two chosen charities, Dementia Friends and Diabetes UK. By the end of the day, we had collected £81.55 and all proceeds went to these extremely worthwhile charities.
We would like to thank everybody who donated money on the day. We are already planning new events for next year.
If you are interested in learning more about Dementia Friends please click here or call Mike on 01895 442026 for information on attending sessions or click here for more information about Diabetes UK.
Also, special thanks to Jackie and Kathy for their her help on the day and special thanks to Dr Sahota for opening up the Medical Centre and allowing all the Practice facilities to be used.
Here's Alan from Dementia Friends at the Medical Centre Car Park on Mayday at the Green.
The surgery provides facilities for disabled access. There is a ramp from the car park to the surgery entrance. All areas of the surgery are on the ground floor and there is a disabled bathroom in the main reception area. We have also recently altered the reception desk area to allow improved access for our patients.
We would ask patients with a disability to let reception know if anybody requires assistance. We would welcome any suggestions patients may have in making their visit to the surgery a more pleasant experience. Alternatively, use the suggestion box in the reception area..
Please can patients inform reception if there are any special requirements in the event of an emergency - eg Fire alarm/evacuation.
Have You Tried the Blood Pressure unit yet?
The BP unit is located underneath the TV in the reception area. Please try the BP unit as it saves invaluable clinician time if patients take their own blood pressure whilst waiting for their appointments.
Nothing could be simpler than getting a reading- just follow the instructions that are on the window above the machine and hand your BP reading to reception. It's best if patients using the machine do three separate readings and then hand the reading with the lowest score to a receptionist. If you are a patient at the Practice, feel free to pop in anytime and check your blood pressure.
If you would like help or a demonstration, please ask at reception.
Are You Healthy- Why Not take The Quiz and Find Out?
This NHS Quiz is simple to use and only takes a few minutes. After completion, you receive a personalised Health Score and information about lifestyle changes if applicable.
The One You site also contains relevant apps and information depending on the results. Patients may also be eligible for a free NHS health check. Please click the link below if you want to give it a go.
Are you at risk of Diabetes ? - please take the NHS test and inform reception if you are at risk.
Did Not Attend (DNA) Policy Review
Due to the high number of DNA's per week (around 40), we have had to review our policy regarding patients who do not turn up for their appointments and who do not phone us in time to cancel their time slots.
Please find a copy of amended policy in the policies section. We will be posting up the weekly numbers of DNAs on the reception access window and on the latest news feature at the top of the website.
Please remember to call us if you can't make an appointment- a patient with an urgent need could be potentially put at risk.
PATIENT PARTICIPATION GROUP
THE PRACTICE WISHES TO INVITE A GROUP OF PATIENTS WHO ARE WILLING TO CONTRIBUTE SOME OF THEIR TIME TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE PRACTICE AND ITS HEALTH SERVICES.
We are especially keen to make sure that the group is fully representative of our patients and therefore invite anyone with an interest to enquire about joining.
Please ask to see Satnam Kaur Khalsa (01895 442026) for more information
We anticipate that the group will meet about four times a year, but arrangements will also be made for members of the group who are not able to attend in person, but feel that they would like to contribute.
We hope that the group will hold their next meeting in August and we are happy for new members to come forward at any time.
If you experience any difficulty when using this website please contact the surgery for assistance
